Note that Mr. Peterson is giving away over 50% of the money he made from his IPO and he’s doing it during his life and he’s going to actually deliver the money to nonprofits “over the next several years”. All marks of the new trends in philanthropy.

American’s don’t trust nonprofits. They think the money they give is being wasted. It must be remembered that the context within which we discuss philanthropy is a context that assumes nonprofits are pretty lousy.
