As someone who used to work for a foundation and now works as a fundraiser at an International NGO, I find Elizabeth's comments extremely insightful and true - people working at NGOs and are looking for funding should remember that foundations are trying to maximize their resources, just like NGOs, to ultimately reach the same targets. It's great to have foundations like Overbrook, that actually make the effort to help NGOs with their work, not just fund it.

I just started working for a family foundation and found Elizabeth's piece very inspiring. As someone completely new to the field, I find it wonderful that a job can be so personal. I am excited to have the opportunity to help a family realize their social commitments, and I'm glad that Elizabeth's experience has been so positive. Thank you for your insight!

As someone who works in Development myself, I really liked Elizabeth's article on Family Foundations. I currently work as a private school fundraiser and am thinking about moving to another area of fundraising - like most people I always assumed that someone who worked for a Foundation wrote or read grants all the time, but in reality it sounds like a great job - and perfect to help give money to charities or organizations that you are personally connected to!
