Sorry for the delay but several Keepers had to confer on the wording of this response. We have changed the blog entry to: "There is no official connection between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Gates Keepers blog." But connection or no connection, it is best not to get on the wrong side of the people at the Gates Foundation. Stonesifer says she wants to hear the truth but she doesn't say what may happen to people who express it. Few people are brave or financially secure enough to openly criticise the Foundation. So we blog anonymously for the same reason people in China do - for safety.

You write on your blog that:

"There is no official connection between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the people who post to the Gates Keepers blog."

Why then do you write the blog anonymously?

We are fast, accurate, and relevant. The first few postings on the blog explains why we blog. Our backgrounds are in health and education, two of the Foundation's fields. More information may reveal our identities. But feel free not to take us seriously.

Why don't you share with us why you write Gates Keeper and what your background is? Without revealing your identity, you can still give your readers context for the blog. Without any kind of "about" page, it is hard to take your blog seriously.

Blogs, websites, even email is making it easier and providing more opportunities for foundations to release their knowledge more quickly than ever before. Foundations are also getting better about how they present their findings as well as targeting audiences who can make the most of the information.
